Partha Pratim Roy was born in Kolkata in 1952. He started his schooling in South Point School followed by Don Bosco School in Kolkata. Life then took a turn when he got selected by a competitive process to join a premier military school in Dehra Dun, the Rashtriya Indian Military College in class seven. Having finished Senior Cambridge in 1968, he joined the National Defence Academy in Pune and then followed up with his final military training in the Indian Military Academy in Dehra Dun. On his passing out he was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers in the Army as an officer. Partha retired from the Army as a Colonel after 34 years in service. Post retirement, he worked in the corporate sector for about four years.
He has a degree in Civil Engineering and Diplomas in Management and Software Engineering. He has been an instructor in the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the College of Military Engineering in Pune. His service in the Army has given him a wide perspective of our people and our land, having served in various parts of the country. An avid reader and an amateur sketch artist he spends his time between his homes in Kolkata and in Pune.
He has rendered two of the bestselling Bengali novels of Aniruddha Bose CHAKRA in English as FULCRUM and TOMAKE in English as THE MOMENT as well as drawn the cover art of the novel FULCRUM.
