Two childhood friends from a small village in Sicily …. separated by fate, compelled to live apart in a far-off country, yet so close.

The early twentieth century saw the evolution of a socio scientific paradigm that aimed at bringing forth ideal human beings. At the same time lurking in the periphery was a rare genetic illness that was known to be one of the cruellest diseases known to man. One was to prevent the procreation of the sick and the other a killer which had no cure. What could be the consequences of the combination of an unforgiving disease and a social evil of the negative kind?

Sometimes the past must be brought forth in the present, for us to understand and never to repeat.

Caught up in this conundrum were the myriad characters whose trials and tribulations make up this fictional tale, based on true events in history…...
